Facebook is most used website all over world and ranked number 2 in Pakistan after Google, same ranking worldwide. It is estimated that over 45 million Pakistani users are on Facebook but what they do on FB?
Majority use Facebook for playing games like Farmville, Pakistani companies are spending a noticeable amount on advertisements there.
The presence of anti Muslim groups and pages on facebook are not new they do exists since years which have hatred and racism material against Islam and against Muslims.
While Facebook's terms of use include the warning that users may "be banned if they post 'any content that we deem to be harmful, threatening, unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, inflammatory, harassing, vulgar, obscene, fraudulent, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
Question is if any user create such page or group and why Facebook dont take any action and remove it according to FB's own policy? Large number of groups have been made so far against such pages and groups but no action have been taken by Facebook management.
This negligant behaviour is only with Muslims on the other hand someone created "May 20 - Everybody Ridicule & Draw Holocaust Day" in response to May 20 Draw Muhammmad PBUH Day and when reported action was taken after 20 minutes of reported because it was against Jews (More Details http://bit.ly/aCStJ2)
On the other hand there are many Privacy issues with Facebook which are criticed all over the world.
On February 4, 2009 Facebook made changed to Privacy and the changes remained unannounced until a blogger noticed it after two weeks. New changes gave Facebook the right to "Do anything they want with your content. Forever." The section under the most controversy is the "User Content Posted on the Site" clause. Before the changes, the clause read, "You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content." The "license granted" refers to the license that Facebook has to your "name, likeness, and image" to use in promotions and external advertising. The new terms of use deleted the phrase that states the license would "automatically expire" if a user chose to remove content. By omitting this line, Facebook license extends to adopt users' content perpetually and irrevocably years after the content has been deleted.
According to Telegraph report today More than half of Facebook users 'could quit the site over privacy worries'
We should stopped using Facebook until they realize and respect Muslims and till privacy concerns are solved. We should spend time more productive and should support local websites.
