The reason why Donkey Kong has that name although he is an ape and not a donkey is this:
The game was created by a developer at Nintendo in 1981. He needed a name for the main character, but had little or no knowledge of English.
Not surprisingly, the inspiration for the game is the classic King Kong character, so they got the "Kong" part from there.
The developer wanted the name to mean "goofy", "crazy", corny", something like that. He looked it up in a Japanese-English dictionary, and apparently found that "donkey" had this meaning.
The rest is, as they say - classic gaming history.
Btw, the reason your palms don't get tanned isn't that they are less exposed to the sun, it's that the skin in your palms (and under your feet) contain no pigments that the UV rays can tan. B)
