Either way, here are ten reasons by Cricket is better then Baseball. Once upon a time baseball was extremely popular in the UK. Did you know that Tottenham Hotspur was originally a baseball team or that Derby County's old Baseball Ground was originally, well, a baseball ground? Since the early 20th century peak in baseball interest, cricket has seen off the young pretender to become the UK's premier "hitting game". Here are ten reasons why: 1. When the cricket World Cup is held more that one nation takes part 2. Cricketers would never strike because they were only earning $2m per year 3. Cricket fielders do not need padded gloves to catch the ball (see also American football padding and Rugby) 4. You don't need to wait twenty years for a season ticket at The County Ground, Hove 5. Cricketers don't have a Facing End Coach and a Non-Facing End coach. Quite frankly we don't see the point of Base coaches unless they have a special way of saying "Run like buggery over there" 6. Chewing tobacco is a foul and disgusting habit. Tobacco has no place in sport (with the exception of Phil Tufnell) 7. Baseball players look like rednecks with dodgy taches. Cricketers look like gentlemen at all times (with the exception of Phil Tufnell) 8. In baseball the 'pitcher' delivers one waist-high full-toss after another. There are reasons why Ian Salisbury no longer plays for England 9. In cricket you don't get three strikes before you're out. Australian batsmen can stand as much as they want but even they have just the one chance at the crease 10. Only in cricket can you leave the field for twenty minutes for a spot of tea. Marvelous.
