Waqas 48 Posted May 18, 2009 ISLAMABAD: The ambassadors of G-8 countries in Pakistan here on Monday assured the government of the full support of their respective governments in its efforts for the welfare and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). In a meeting with Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Shaukat Tarin, a delegation of G-8 ambassadors expressed willingness for all possible assistance in meeting the requirements of basic needs of IDPs in the camps and their return to homes after normalization of conditions in their respective areas, said a press release issued here. On the occasion, Shaukat Tarin, thanked the G-8 Ambassadors for their interest in the welfare of IDPs and briefed them about the efforts being made by the government, in collaboration with donor governments and international agencies, for the welfare, rehabilitation and safe return of IDPs in various affected areas. He emphasized that the foreign donors should realize that this was the opportune time to win hearts of these displaced people who are looking for any assistance. Certainly such assistance at this critical moment would create good impact amongst the locals, he added. The G-8 ambassadors delegation comprised, Giani De Michelis, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy; Robert Binkley, British High Commissioner; Randolph Mank, Canadian High Commissioner; Jan De Kok, Ambassador of European Union; Daniel Jouanneau, Ambassador of France; Dr. Michael Koch, German Ambassador; Chiihiro Atsumi, Ambassador of Japan; Andrey S. Budnik, Russian Ambassador: Gerald Feierstein, Dy. Chief of US Mission; Majnoon Gulab, Afghan Charge d'' Affairs; and Ms. Vincenzo Prati, Italian Ambassador.
