Waqas 48 Posted May 18, 2009 FAISALABAD: Prisoners at the Faisalabad District Jail staged a protest against the torture of their fellow inmate here on Monday. However, they returned to the barracks on the assurance of jail administration that their demands would be met. The protest started on Tuesday morning when jail authorities subjected one inmate to torture. The prisoners alleged that the jail authorities first provide them mobile phones in exchange of the payment of hefty money. But then they demand more money over recovery of cell phones after the search. One prisoner protested against the demand of more money for which he was subjected to torture. On this, other inmates also started the protest. They came out of their barracks and set the jail record room on fire. Meanwhile, D.I.G Prison Shahib Baig held talks with the protesting inmates and assured them of accepting their demands.
