Waqas 48 Posted May 26, 2009 PESHAWAR: Pakistan army’s operation ‘ Rah-e-Rast’ against militants continued in Malakand division as security forces reached Gadizai, one kilometer away from Pir Baba and took control of Mingora airport. According to sources, militants in Malakand Agency blown up a TV booster whereas security forces overnight pounded militants’ strongholds in different areas of tehsil Maidan. Many hideouts of militants were destroyed during the shelling. Security forces blown up houses of several militants’ commanders. Meanwhile, clashes underway between forces and militants in Pir Baba neighborhood and the area from Sultandus to Gaddizai have been cleared from militants. On the other hand, militants attacked Kalpani checkpost at upper and lower Dir border injuring four security personnel. Unknown persons blew a TV station booster in Thana area in Malakand Agency followed by the suspension of transmission of state TV. Operation against extremists underway in various parts of Swat as security forces took control of Airport Road in Mingora. Security officials are busy in cleaning landmines in various areas. Curfew remained in place in the district as, however, Buner administration announced relaxation in curfew from 7: 00 am till 7: pm.
