Waqas 48 Posted May 29, 2009 ISLAMABAD: The United Nations has closed its offices in Pakistan and directed the staff to discharge their respective responsibilities from their residences. In a statement issued by the UN resident coordinator in Pakistan Fikret Akcura, it has been decided to keep the UN offices closed on Friday and Saturday on fresh security concerns. It said the next two to three days are crucial and the UN staff in Pakistan will perform its duties from their residences. The UN staff residing in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been directed not to visit any public place, it said, adding, decision on further course of action will be taken after reviewing the security situation on Sunday.
