Waqas 48 Posted May 29, 2009 KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi Friday said that both Taliban and the current government were responsible for the displacement of 2.5 million people from Swat and other parts of Malakand Division. Speaking to newsmen after arriving at the Jinnah International Airport here, he said that wrong polices adopted by the government led to the mass exodus in Malakand. “Our party is not in favour of mid-term polls,” Hashmi said. The PML-N lawmaker reiterated that his party war ready to cooperate with the government for the sake of national security. However, he said that “It takes two to tango.” He warned that PML-N’s cooperation with the government could not last for too long if the 17th Amendment was not abolished, constitution was not restored and the presidential system continued in the country. Hashmi suggested that the government of Pakistan should approach the United Nations on the issue of US drone strikes inside tribal areas.
