Pakistan top bats crumble in Colombo Test

Recommended Posts

COLOMBO: Pakistan is faced with difficulties at the very outset after having won the toss and chose to bat first against Sri Lanka in the second test on Sunday.

Pakistan was at 19 for 4 in just 7 overs of the game, as its opening batsmen collapsed and kept returning to the pavilion one after the other.

Pakistan captain, Yunous Khan this morning winning the toss chose to bat first, which didn’t work well for the team, as it lost the first wicket in third over, when the opener Khurram Manzoor at 3 was caught out by Dilshan on Nuwan Kulasekara ball. Captain Younus Khan fell at duck on the first ball of the fourth over. He was bold by Thilan Thushara. Mohammed Yusuf at 10 and Misbahul Huque at naught were sent back to the pavilion by Kulasekara one after the other.

Pakistan made one change to the team that lost the first test by 50 runs, dropping opener Salman Butt for all rounder Fawad Alam. Sri Lanka named an unchanged team with star spinner Muttiah Muralitharan still unavailable for selection due to injury.

Pakistan squad: Younis Khan (capt), Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Yousuf, Fawad Alam, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (wk), Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Aamer, Abdur Rauf

Sri Lanka squad: Kumar Sangakkara (capt), Malinda Warnapura, Tharanga Paranavitana, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Angelo Mathews, Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekara
