Dr ImranÂ’s body due in Karachi shortly

KARACHI: The dead body of slain leader of MQM, Dr. Imran Farooq, which has been sent from London’s Heathrow airport, is due here this morning at 1015am at Karachi airport, Geo News reported Saturday.His body will be laid to rest here in Karachi today in Shuhada Cemetery in Yaseenabad. All arrangements regarding funeral and burial have been completed.Security at the airport has been beefed up with all passes given to other than MQM-related people. Also, irrelevant people have been altogether banned to enter the airport limits.The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) official said the flight departure delayed half an hour by additional security at Heathrow airport. Several MQM leaders, Dr Imran’s mother-in-law and other in-laws have arrived at the airport. MQM leaders inspected the security arrangements. The party’s workers are streaming into the city from various parts of the country to attend the funeral.The party’s workers have been advised to arrive at Jinnah Ground of Azizabad for the funeral prayers. The funeral prayers will be offered after Zuhar Prayer.Strict security arrangements have been made around the airport with almost no traffic on roads. At least 5000 security men including the Rangers and police have been deployed for the security The CCPO Karachi Fayyaz Leghari said the MQM is satisfied with the security arrangements, adding all roads have been made secure. ‘We are monitoring the law and order situation every moment,’ Leghari said adding, ‘We are making every effort to maintain the peace through the burial of Dr Imran Farooq.’The MQM’s headquarter Nine Zero is wearing mourning look. Traders’ community announced to keep their commercial and trade centers close in mourning.
