Waqas 48 Posted January 26, 2010 KARACHI: A 19-year-old girl namely Anam has died of a wrong injection at a private hospital located in the Sector 11 of New Karachi, which was followed by protest and riots by infuriated agitators late on Monday night. Meanwhile, the case of murder, against the doctors who treated here wrong injection and the owner of hospital, has been registered in a New Karachi police station. Following the incident, the family members and residents of their locality, having surrounded the hospital, had started staging protest against the alleged murder of girl outside the Godhran Muslim Hospital. They also pelted traffic with stones and blocked several main roads in the area. According to details, the girl was taken to hospital after she complained of bellyache during the day timings on Monday and was tendered medicine as the doctors at hospital diagnosed that she was suffering from high blood pressure, which had inflicted pain in her belly. Later, she was permitted to get back home cum advice of re-treatment in the evening at the same hospital. Subsequently, she was allegedly given wrong injection at the hospital on her return for checkup in the evening while the doctors also inquired family whether they had got her treatment somewhere else as they diagnosed that her blood pressure was down to alarming level, family claimed Moreover, doctors gave her more medicines and an injection, which took away her life late on Monday night, family further stated. After the incident, all the doctors and hospital staff had vanished from hospital and gone in hiding while the family, relatives and area residents had commenced demonstration in protest against alleged murder of girl, chanting slogans and demanding government of immediate notice into the incident, media reports claimed. Many police parties arrived on the protest site and dispersed the enraged mob and also registered case of murder against the owner of the hospital and the doctors who treated her, police sources confirmed.
