A minute of silence

Recommended Posts

If you are still shaken by the horrifying scenes of September 11, please observe a moment of silence for the 5,000 civilian lives lost in the New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania attacks.

While we're at it, let's have 13 minutes of silence for the 130,000 Iraqi civilians killed in 1991 by order of President Bush Sr. Take another moment to remember how Americans celebrated and cheered in the streets.

Now another 20 minutes of silence for the 200,000 Iranians killed by Iraqi soldiers using weapons and money provided to young Saddam Hussein by the American government before the great eagle turned all its power against Iraq.

Another 15 minutes of silence for the Russians and 150,000 Afghan civilians killed by troops supported and trained by the CIA.

Plus 10 minutes of silence for 100,000 Japanese killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the Atomic bombs dropped by the USA.

We've just kept quiet for one hour: one minute for the Americans killed in NY, DC, and Pennsylvania, 59 minutes for their victims throughout the world.

If you are still in awe, let's have another hour of silence for all those killed in Vietnam, which is not something Americans like to admit.

Or for the massacre in Panama in 1989, where American troops attacked poor villagers, leaving 20,000 Panamanians homeless and thousands deader.

Or for the millions of children who have died because of the USA embargoes on Iraq and Cuba.

Or the hundreds of thousands brutally murdered throughout the world by USA-sponsored civil wars and coups d'etat (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Guatemala, El Salvador to name a few).

Maybe, and although the memory of Americans claims otherwise, someone may remember the USA attack on Bagdad where 18,000 civilians were killed. Did someone see it on CNN? Was justice ever served? Or was there even any retaliation?

We hope that Americans finally begin to understand their vulnerability and the cowardly attacks and other tragedies that they have caused around the world.

The dead in other places hurt as much as the dead of the Towers, even more!

Now, let's talk about terrorism, shall we?

salaamz Waqas

I see a tone of sarcasm in ur writing. well i can understand where u r coming from. well i wanna say something so well here it is.

My view on terrorism is innocent ppl killed by someone else. and sep 11 was a terrorism attack, although i don't belive it was launched by Muslims. i'm totally against this statement.

and other events as iraqi ppl kill, ppl in india who were burned, palestinian killed, japanese, koreans, vitenamese, afghanistanese, pakistanis, and many many others.

all were innocent and yes all do deserve moment of silence. cuz it was not their fault. they were the victims.

love u all

well what a wonderful topic!......the us officials keep on mentioning this terrorism thing but they don't look at themselves what they r doing! (may be they don't ve a mirror  :D )........but one thing is for sure that attack on the WTC was a terrorist attack as it was purely against the civilians and it was done to create sum terror......but there were mostly foreigners killed in that attack......ppl from other countries.....very few americans were killed

But one should ask that cowboy (us president) what is he upto?? giving threats to almost every country of the world (especially Muslim countries)......even his own ppl r not with him!......and this time its the britain and the us only against iraq unlike the past when iraq was severely punished by 33 countries.........and if a small country like Vietnam can do great deal of damage to american army (more than 50,000 us soldiers died there).....iraq can be a big threat as well!

Is that a terrorist attack but how?

You are saying that there are few amount of Americans killed (the fact) where were they on 11/09 when terrorist attacked.

Its clear that Israel was involved in 11/09 as they have hold in US. and bush (as u say cow boy) knows this before.

i would like to tell a joke here, mind my defience.

On Sept 10 Sharon calls Bush, " Mr. Bush i am so sorry for what happened, Israel is totally on your side and we will help you to find the Muslims who did this"

Bush replies, "Why what happened?"

Sharon, "Oh!!! i am sorry it is still the 10th in the US"

Please find the humor in this

Salam,

Waqas bhai jan i was not implying that Israel is behind 9-11, I was just trying to be humorous.

I dont think Israel had anything to do with this, because their intelligence had warned the American(duffer) FBI that something is brewing, but the Americans in all their vanity could not apprehend how vulnerable they really were.

And to make a point, I would like for Osama Bin Laden to be brought to justice but what i dont like is how it is being done. Muslims are still suffering and more ill wishes are being made for them.

People are using Islam to justify their hate and actions and that is wrong(sept 11 and suicide bombing).

I beg for a reply from all of you to my thoughts. I would like to be corrected if I am wrong.

Bless U.

Salaam Najeeb

Well since u openly invited EVERY1 for their views I was FORCED (lol) to put forward my thoughts on this unforgettable tragedy that occured on 11 September....

I totally agree with u when u say that the person/organisation behind this monstrosity must be brought to justice. When ppl say this action was taken in the name of Islam they are in fact misrepresenting the teachings of our religion and portraying a very inaccurate picture.

In no way, shape or form does Islam encourage violence, torture or murder without reason.  There are certain exceptions but they are not required in today's world.

We also live in a democratic society today and are required to live according to certain Laws. We cant just take the law in our own hands and go around killing innocent ppl as and when one wishes.

Granted the Palestine issue comes to mind and all the innocent ppl there are being slaughterd for no reason but this is the way Allah wanted it to be. The Israelies will get their comeuppance but in the meantime more innocent civillians will forego their lives but it wont be in vain they will die martyrs and this is indeed their good fortune to die for their land and be granted in place in Jannah!

The way that the world is going about trying to capture these ppl is not very clear. I dont think they know where to start looking after all the world is a big place and these "terrorists" could be anywhere!!!

My humble opinion on what is a very confusing ongoing issue... hope it makes sense to you.
