Boyfriend/girlfriend

Living in London I see that now a lot of Pakistani (and other asians) are starting to follow the Western trend with finding a 'girlfriend' or a 'boyfriend'.  In my own opinion we do not need to stoop this low, or do we?  

What is the point of having such types of friends?  I am sure its not about love as most are too young to understand the meaning of love.

So what do you all think about it?  Is it pakistani people trying to 'fit in' with the 'crowd' or is there a genuwine reason for having a boyfriend or girlfriend that I am not aware of?  People once shunned such behavior, so where are we seeing our culture easing up?

It is the weak character of these ppl that makes them follow what is happening around them.. I disagree that "jaisa des waisa bhes" bcoz strong ppl can overcome these minor issues...

So unless one can speak from experience I suggest ppl dont point fingers unless they can prove their statement with FACTS!!

first of all becuase if u r Muslim then u shouldn't do that at allllllllllllll.

second of all if u do it to fit in then u r weak, i mean u just do what others do so have no meaning to yourself.

Nah girl check this right, being muslim aint about it.  All these breadrins think they rude boys so they gotta have a girl, so it suits their rep.  But what is the point?  

I have the same type of discussion with my friends and half way through they always accuse me of being batty or something cause i do not agree with what they do.

when you posted this topic, you might be thinking that its the problem THERE (UK) but actually its the same here.

I can't tell u the stories of what our fellows do here in Pakistan

but read my rest of the post and you'll get an idea about that.

They go to School to make bf or gf

They go to Chat rooms to make bf/gf

They, especially the BSC students get admission in MassComm to make bg/gf and for "time pass" as they say. (Mansoor knows it better :;):)

They go to parties to make bf/gf

They hangout with their friends and make bf/gf

They go on a date with their bf/gf and are still looking to make another and still they are thirsty for more.

I know this also happens there in UK and else where but its NORMAL their.

We, as muslims, should try to preserve and practice our "code of conduct" rather then following the paths of OTHERS. :)

There are at least three things that I see are to blame for this:

1) Media, such as TV's, Films, as they show all this western bull, and make the younger generation think, "oh if they can do it on tv, i am sure its ok for us to do it to".

2) Music, This again tides with media, most of our musicians tend to make love songs with videos that complement the song.  Again this gives the impression to kids that all this is ok and does not break 'our' code of conduct.

3) I would say this is the worst, as it has no given people access to chat rooms where they mingle in with wrong crowds, and get the wrong preception about what 'love' is all about.

I see Mr. Admin, Sir, that you say it is the same in Pakistan.  Well, that maybe, but I must say its probably not as bad as it is here.  Over there in Pak, they see a BF/GF, is where you hold hands and go to the park.  Over here it is seen in a different way.  I am sure you do not need me explain what I mean, as you can see what I mean on tv/internet etc.  I just do not undertstand how people can forget their morals sooo quickly.  We all say its the 'younger generation' that is to blame for, but that means I (being only 18) would fit into that category, so why am I not like them?

Also Asim...... ur poem was actually very realistic. but the thing is why the heck do we (pakies) try to copy west? Why? Why can't we just follow our own religion and culture. U know our culture and religion both are beautiful but as...... I am seeing it..... pakies are losing it. That's sad. Well I am glad u guys started this topic to spread awareness among us and others. I really appreciate it. Plz keep on posting such things.

Faizaan it sure is the media that influences ppl in a big way but it is not entirely to blame.. it still comes back to y should we be weak individuals to fall into the trap and act/say/do as the media dictates?.. We have been blessed with brain we should utilise it rite?!!  :;):

well I would still that the reason they do it is due to pear pressure.  They see their friends and couterparts do such stuff and inorder to stay 'in the crowd' they do it themselves.  They just lost their shame to copy their friends.

faiz naice points u have choosed but its all up to us we can use inyernet for info not for materialistic thins and bl bla and tv itself is not bad its the way u use it,use it for better purpose in the end i agree with shaboo that its the charater of a person that counts if u r strong u can get zway from thses things else u r doomed.

he used to use net for bla bla ,i know u understand and cable tv for bla bla and now he has left it,its just the time when u fell that u have to leave it and now he used all thses thins but for info not for bla bla.

and why pakis r followin west ,well as i mentioned in my earlier mail its a minority and shaboo to ur question that the minority seems to b overwhelemd n and r projectin the image of all paklis,well just thjink ,the ordinary ppl dont have acces to the luxuries they have or we have,now u meet those ppl who have the luxuries and when u see them u tend to blv that all r like that but its not the case,its just that they have the means to project themselves and other ppl dont.

an example is we have net,u meet us ,u get an idea how we r like and our  thoughts and evry thin,now u will think that all r like that cause well tell ya that u have not seen it.now a person who has no luxuary or cant reach the ppl like ya who r here how can ya know abt him/her.its just like a media war,at this moment bad guys r strong they have resources and other have dont,so u c what they want ya to c.its as simple as that.

and let me tell ya that burai hamesha achai say ziada nazr ati hai lekin achai hoti hai her jugha bus dekhnay kay liey apko optimistic hona chaiey.

i used to think that yar kia ho raha hai,yahan tu burai he burai hai lekin i changed the way i used to look now i c good ppl and achai as well,and that is y i am so relaxed.

western culture isliey foolow ho raha hai keh,is waqt media unka hai ,or is waqt unki yulghar hai,just as when we used to b strong and ppl followed us and bacme muslims,know is thier time but it will not last forever.
